Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the omission or the duplication of an address recorded on a magnetic recording tape by detecting the discontinuous position of the address and eliminating the discontinuity of the address on the tape. CONSTITUTION:When a detecting means detects the first discontinuous position as the start of the discontinuous interval of the address and the second discontinuous position at the end of the discontinuous interval under a reproducing state, a new address is successively recorded from the first discontinuous position to the second discontinuous position by an after recording operation so that the new address can be continuous from the address immediately before the first discontinuous position. Further, when the detecting means detects the discontinuity of the address again after the after recording operation for the discontinuous interval ends, since the after recording operation is executed again, the discontinuous state of the address on the magnetic recording tape is eliminated. Thus, the omission or the duplication of the address can be eliminated.
