PURPOSE: To improve a picture quality by a common circuit at the time of recording and reproducing a video tape recorder(VTR).

CONSTITUTION: At the time of recording a video signal in a magnetic tape by a recording and reproducing part 2, the inputted video signal is inputted through a switch SwA' to a motion adaptive three-dimensional YC separator circuit 1. Then, a brightness signal from which a dot disturbance and a cross color are removed, and a chrominance signal are outputted, and recorded in a magnetic tape by the recording and reproducing part 2. On the other hand, at the time of reproduction, the reproduced brightness signal and the reproduced chrominance signal are outputted from the recording and reproducing part 2, and the reproduced brightness signal is inputted through the switch SwA' to the motion adaptive three-dimensional YC separator circuit 1, and reproduced and outputted after the noise is removed.
