To allow a magnetic-saturation type current limiter using saturable reactors, which recovers in a short time and has a self safety function so as to independently handle a fault current without a circuit breaker, while reducing the required number of large-sized saturable reactors and eliminating the use of the DC bias magnetic fluxes.
The magnetic-saturation type current limiter is composed of: a saturable reactor which comprises a ferromagnetic yoke and a coil wound around the ferromagnetic yoke and connected to a power system and magnetically changes from a non-saturated state to a saturated state by the magnitude of a current flowing in the coil; a first capacitor with one end connected to the power system which is connected to the coil in series so as to form a series resonant circuit together with the saturable reactor in a non-saturated state by a normal current of the power system and to constitute a low resistance circuit with respect to the power system; and a first non-saturated reactor which is connected to the series resonant circuit in parallel so as to form a parallel resonant circuit together with the first capacitor in the presence of the saturable reactor that becomes saturated by a fault current of the power system and to constitute a high resistance circuit with respect to the power system.
