Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor provided with magnetoresistive element, capable of stably maintaining the magnetization direction of the magnetic domain in a free layer.
SOLUTION: The magnetic sensor includes magnetoresistive element provided with a narrow strips 11a, including pinned layers and free layers. Below both ends of the free layer, a bias magnet membranes 11b, consisting of permanent magnet for generating bias magnetic field of a specific direction in the free layer, and a coil 31 for initialization, which is provided close to the free layer and adds the magnetic field, in the same direction as that of the bias magnetic field by sending current at a specific condition are formed. The magnetization of the bias magnet membrane and fixing of the direction of the magnetization of the pinned layer are attained by the magnetic field, formed by the magnetic array constituted so as to arrange a plurality of permanent magnets at the grid points of a square lattice and that the magnetic polarization of the pole of each permanent magnet different from other adjacent magnetic polarization of the pole separated by a minimum distance.
