Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of output from a pair of bridge-connected GMR elements even when a magnetic sensor is not accurately arranged in the width direction of a magnetic substance.SOLUTION: The magnetic sensor comprises GMR elements 22a-22d of magnetic field intensity detection type that are constructed as being the same and bridge connected, and bias magnets 30A, 30B for applying a bias magnetic field to the GMR elements 22a-22d, the magnetic sensor detecting the rotation of a gearwheel 40 that is of a magnetic substance. The bias magnets 30A, 30B are provided in a plane facing the GMR elements 22a-22d by being extended in parallel with a prescribed distance therebetween. The center lines CL3A, CL3B of the bias magnets 30A, 30B respectively are inclined by a prescribed angle to a straight line CL2 linking the centers of the GMR elements 22a-22d. The bias magnetic field is applied to the GMR elements 22a-22d in only a direction orthogonal to the straight line and not applied in the direction of the straight line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
