Abstract:
To reduce a signal defect occurrence frequency in a servo system in a magnetic tape with thinned total thickness and improved surface smoothness of a magnetic layer.SOLUTION: There is provided a magnetic tape having a magnetic layer including ferromagnetic powder and binding agent on a non-magnetic support. The total thickness of the magnetic tape is 5.30 μm or less, the magnetic layer has a servo pattern, center line average surface roughness Ra measured on the surface of the magnetic layer is 1.8 nm or less and an isoelectric point of surface zeta potential of the magnetic layer is 5.5 or more. There is also provided a magnetic tape device including the magnetic tape.SELECTED DRAWING: None
