PURPOSE: Not to impose any stress from a winding upon the centre of cross section in the transversal direction of a wedge, by shaping the cross section in the transversal direction of the wedge into an open end shape.
CONSTITUTION: A slot 7 formed in a stator core 6 is equipped with a winding 9 wrapped with an insulator 8. A magnetic wedge 12 is driven to fix and support the winding 9 in the slot, using a groove 11 formed as the core teeth 10 at the opening of the slot 7. The magnetic wedge 12 is a member with a fixed thickness laminated with multiple magnetic strip sheets 19. Nonmagnetic material is evaporated or fixed by pressure onto one side or both sides of every magnetic iron strip sheet. It is formed so that the edges of the laminated member are stretched out symmetrically from the centre to the laminated directions in its cross section of π-shape. Thus, no shearing is produced at the centre part and it is therefore effective to prevent the laminated magnetic sheets from their flaking off.
