PURPOSE: To improve the flow of the magnetic flux of a fundamental wave and concurrently reduce the losses generated by the magnetic fluxes of higher harmonics and in its turn improve the characteristic of a rotating machine, by constituting a magnetic wedge for a slot through bonding an amorphous thin band to the surface of the magnetic wedge or through burying the amorphous thin band in the magnetic wedge.
CONSTITUTION: By compressing an iron powder or ferrite, or by molding it with a resin, a magnetic wedge 3 of five microns to several tens of microns in its relative permeability is obtained. By providing an amorphous thin band 4 of about several micrometers to several tens of micrometers in its film thickness on the surface of the magnetic wedge 3, a composite magnetic wedge 5 is obtained. For example, the amorphous thin band 4 is an alloy band made of 75% first material and 25% second material. The first material is made of 88% Co, 6% Fe, 4% Ni, and 2% Nb. The second material is made of 40% Si and 60% B. Further, the composite magnetic wedge 5 is so stored in a slot 2 of a stator core 1 as to block up an opening part 2a of the slot 2. Thereby the flow of the magnetic flux of a fundamental wave is improved by the magnetic wedge 3, and concurrently, various losses generated by the magnetic fluxes of higher harmonics can be reduced by the amorphous thin band 4.
