Title:
MAGNETICALLY LEVITATING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01185904
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make this apparatus small-sized and stable by a method wherein a superconductor container containing a heavy weight placed in a magnetic field by using a magnet is confined into the magnetic field by means of the Meissner effect.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic field is applied to a superconductor container 3 containing a heavy weight 4 by using magnets 2; this container is shielded magnetically by means of the Meissner effect; at the same time, a buoyant force is generated in the superconductor container 3 by using a medium 5 outside the container 3, and overpowers the gravity; the container is stabilized. In order to support the magnets 2, a vertical-direction magnet support structure 21 and a horizontal-direction magnet support structure 20 are installed in a heat-insulating container 1; in addition, a magnetic shield 8 is installed on the inner wall of the heat-insulating container 1; magnetism is shielded; the magnetism is prevented from leaking to the outside. When the buoyant force is added to a magnetically levitating force, a magnetic force can be reduced and the magnets 2 can be made small-sized.
