Abstract:
To provide a magnetization method for a magnetic encoder, which makes it difficult for magnetic flux to leak to tracks of other rows when magnetizing one row of double-row tracks, and enables efficient magnetization.SOLUTION: A magnetization method for a magnetic encoder 10 having double-row tracks 10a and 10b arranged adjacent to each other in parallel includes a magnetizing step of magnetizing each of the tracks 10a and 10b by using a magnetizing yoke for an unmagnetized magnetic member. The magnetizing yoke has a pair of tip portions 30a and 31a that face each other in close proximity. The pair of tip portions are arranged side by side in a column direction of tracks, and magnetize the tracks while moving relatively along the column direction of the tracks in a state of being close to a magnetized surface of a magnetic member. The width dimension D2 of the tip portion is larger than the width dimensions D10 and D11 of any track of the double-row tracks, and the magnetizing yoke is arranged so that the position of one end face in the width direction of the tip portion is aligned with a boundary portion 5 of the double-row tracks.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
