PURPOSE: To stabilize magneto-optical read signals by incorporating platinum into a first magnetic layer which is a reading layer, incorporating at least one kind of elements Cr, Nb, Ta, Al, Si, Ni and Mo into a second magnetic layer which is a recording layer and constituting a laminated medium by these layers.

CONSTITUTION: The reading layer is provided with a compsn. corresponding to RExTM100-x-y-aPTyAa and the magnetic layer on the side further from a substrate is provided with a compsn. corresponding to REuTM100-u-bBb. In these compsns., RE is composed of at least one kind of elements among Gd, Tb, Dy and Ho and B is composed of at least one kind of elements among Cr, Nb, Ta, Al, Si, Ni and Mo without having relations each other. In this constitution, x, y, u, a, b are respectively specified so as to satisfy the following conditions: 5≤x≤30, 0.5≤y≤20, 15≤u≤30, 0≤a≤25, 0.5≤b≤25. The diameters and shapes of domains are varied by magnetization and coercive force in such a manner.
