PURPOSE: To attain reproduction/edition of a mail using a block as a basic unit by allowing a silence detector to detect a pause for a prescribed time or over in an input mail at mail registration, dividing one mail into some blocks and registering them.

CONSTITUTION: In registering a mail Nn2, a pause detector 11 detects a pause of the voice mail Mn2 inputted via a voiceinput device 4 from a telephone terminal set 1 under the control of the system controller 14, and when the pause for a prescribed time or over is detected, the end of one voice mail block BL1 is informed to the system controller 8. A mail editing device 12 counts the size of each mail block and a control input device 13 receives a reproducing/editing request signal inputted from the telephone terminal set 1 at reproduction/edition of the mail Mn2, and the mail editing device 12 edits and reproduces the block unit and outputs the voice mail from the voice input/output device 4.
