To obtain a new compound which is highly useful as a color print material for outputting digital image information forming color images at low costs by simple operations and produces a color-developing main agent oxide without needing an oxide such as a silver halide.
A compound of formula I [A1 and A4 are each a substitutent; (n) is 0 to 4; A2 and A3 are each an alkyl; A5 is C(=0)-A6, SO2-A7 (A6 and A7 are each a substituent)], for example, a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I can be obtained, for example, by reacting a color-developing main agent (salt) of formula III with a compound of the formula: X-A5 (X is an eliminable group such as a halogen, phenoxy or an acyloxy) or its equivalent compound (for example, an isocyanate), if necessary, in the presence of a base in a solvent, and then reacting the obtained compound of formula IV with a compound (salt) of the formula: H-S-A4 in the presence of an oxide (for example, manganese dioxide) and, if necessary, a base in a solvent.
