Abstract:
To provide a main bearing capable of reducing frictional loss by contact with a journal portion in operating an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a main bearing is provided in that the main bearing for rotatably supporting a journal portion of a crank shaft of an internal combustion engine has a pair of upper half-split bearing and a lower half-split bearing forming the cylindrical shape by being combined with each other, each half-split bearing has a main cylindrical portion including a circumferential central portion of the half-split bearing, the main cylindrical portion has a sliding face at a radial inner side, further each half-split bearing has crash reliefs having a thin wall thickness in comparison with the main cylindrical portions, at both sides in the circumferential direction of the sliding face, only the upper half-split bearing has an oil groove extended in the circumferential direction on its inner peripheral face, the lower half-slit bearing has a projecting portion extended in an axial direction, on a sliding face between the circumferential central portion and the crash relief at a front side in the rotating direction of the journal portion, and the projecting portion is formed within a range of circumferential angles of 10-60° from the circumferential central portion toward a front side in a rotating direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
