Abstract:
To provide a main spindle device which comprises a main spindle supporting a tool attachably and detachably and an electric motor as a driving source for the main spindle, and which is adaptable to various machining regardless of performance of the electric motor, and a machine tool comprising the main spindle device.SOLUTION: A main spindle device 1 reduces or increases the rotation of an electric motor 5 by means of a double cavity-type and half-toroidal-type toroidal continuously variable transmission 4 and transmits the reduced or increased rotation to a main spindle 3. The toroidal continuously variable transmission 4 includes an input member 15, a pair of output discs 16a and 16b, a plurality of power rollers 17 and a pressurizing device 18.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
