Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance mechanism of an ink jet printer which eliminates installation of a maintenance pan or the like and performs flushing of all the nozzles regardless of the sheet width in a printer having an ink jet printer.SOLUTION: A maintenance mechanism of an ink jet printer which includes a line head 71 for performing image formation by discharging ink to a long sheet P conveyed on a conveyance path includes: sheet end sensors 41, 41 which detect the width direction end of the sheet P on the conveyance path; a meander control device 43 which moves the sheet P conveyed on the conveyance path in the main-scanning direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction; and a control unit which moves the sheet P on the conveyance path in the main-scanning direction periodically by the meander control device 43 in accordance with the detection result by the sheet end sensors 41, 41 and executes the flushing operation by the line head 71.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
