To provide a maintenance support device and a maintenance support method for transformer that can appropriately determine a state of a transformer.
There is provided a maintenance support device for transformer that is provided with an in-loading tap switching device 120 switching a tap when a load is placed by a motor operation box 200 for controlling tap switching and also provided with a current transformer 300 supplying a current corresponding to the load, and determines a state of a transformer 100, the maintenance support device including a current detection circuit 1 which detects a current flowing to the transformer 100 with a current of the current transformer 300, and determination means (a tap switching detection circuit 2, an input circuit 3, an arithmetic circuit 4, a storage circuit 5, and a determination circuit 6) of checking a load on the transformer 100 in the tap switching based upon the current that the current detection circuit 1 detects on receiving a signal indicative of the tap switching from the in-loading tap switching device 120, checking a consumption of a main contactor of the in-loading tap switching device 120 on the basis of the load on the transformer 100, checking a consumption of a resistance contactor, and determining the state of the transformer 100 from the two consumptions.
