PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female terminal capable of reducing the terminal insertion force and contact resistance.SOLUTION: A female terminal has a box type electric contact part into which the male terminal is inserted. A contact 20 coming into contact with the male terminal is formed in the electric contact part. The contact 20 is constituted to include a conductive metal base material 23, an inner layer 25 provided on the surface 24 of the base material 23, and an outermost layer 26 provided on the outside of the inner layer 25. The outermost layer 26 is formed as a Sn plating layer 26a composed of Sn. A plurality of concave base material recesses 27 having a tracking shape even in the inner layer 25 and the Sn plating layer 26a are formed in the surface 24 of the base material. The base material recesses 27 are formed in hole shape, arranged in a plurality of rows in the insertion direction of the male terminal, while deviating the formation position in the adjoining rows. A plurality of concave Sn plating layer recesses 30 are formed by the base material recesses 27 in the Sn plating layer 26a. On the inside of this Sn plating layer recesses 30, a space 31 for dropping the sliding time product material P such as the oxidation abrasion powder, produced at the time of sliding the tub 15, is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
