Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a positive detection of wrong connection of a signal line connected to an engine control device.SOLUTION: An opening or closing timing instruction part [120a] instructs a changing of one opening or closing timing of an intake valve or an exhaust valve when the opening or closing timing of the intake valve and the exhaust valve fulfills a prescribed specified condition. A malfunction determination part [120c] is constituted in such a way that it compares one opening or closing timing of the intake valve or the exhaust valve instructed at the opening or closing timing instruction part with actual opening or closing timings of both intake valve and exhaust valve detected by a malfunction detection part [120b] and judges that the variable valve timing system shows an abnormal state when the other opening or closing timing not instructed is changed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
