Abstract:

To provide a man-machine interface system with a small occupied space on a desk and which is easy-to-use by anyone.

The man-machine interface system 1 using an image input/output device 5 having a head 10 in which an output optical system capable of projecting an image 9 on the desk 2 and an input optical system capable of acquiring an optical signal are stored and a base 20 which supports the head 10 via an arm 19 is provided. In the interface system, a pen type pointing device 6 which outputs an optical signal 41 from the vicinity of the tip is used. Since information can be inputted by drawing characters or graphics, etc. to the image 9 projected on the desk 2 with the pointing device 6, a display as an object is unnecessary and the space on the desk can be widely used. In addition, the information can be acquired from a personal computer and inputted in the personal computer by usage as if the characters and pictures are directly written in the image with a pen.
