Abstract:
PURPOSE: To relieve the load of memory capacity of a microcomputer by storing history information of an editting operation and updating one part of management information stored in another storage means with the history information.
CONSTITUTION: A system controller 11 controls respective operations such as recording reproducing and editing. At the time of performing a recording/ reproducing operation to a disk 1, management information to be recorded in the disk 1 are read in into a buffer RAM 13 to be held. Moreover, the controller 11 reads in necessary information among a P-TOC and a U-TOC from the S-RAM 13 in an S-RAM 11a. The controller 11 performs various controls in accordance with read-in management information. Further, however the U-TOC is editted and rewritten in accordance with the recording and erasing of data. the controller 1 l performs this editting processing with respect to the U-TOC stored in the RAM 11a at every recording/erasing operation and rewrites the U-TOC on the RAN 13 in a prescribed timing corresponding to the operation and further records the U-TOC on the RAM 13 in the U-TOC area of the disk 1.
