To provide a mantle assembly consisting of a spring clip which has durability substantially as high as the durability of a mantle fixed by a string material and keeps holding power even when being heated, and a mantle which is to be attached without being twisted.

A mantle assembly consists of a mantle 41 having at least one open end 43 and a clip 35 existing at the open end to attach the open end of the mantle to a burner tube 52 of a lantern. The clip includes almost circular center part surrounding the aperture of the mantle and a pair of end parts. The end parts are made movable between a first state and a second state so as to alter the size of a hole in the center part. The mantle may have almost a tubular shape provided with a pair of open ends and respective open ends are surrounded with the clip.
