To provide a mantle for illumination having a thicker stereoscopic structure, increase the luminescence intensity, extend the life, and manufacture it at a low cost by carrying a luminescence composition for illumination on a mantle base material woven by three-tack dapple-knitting.
No.20-40 count cotton yarns or cotton-mixed yarns are preferably three-tack dapple-knitted to weave a mantle base material 10. In this case, 8-15 gauge round knitting machine is used, and the mantle base material 10 has the roughness that combustion gas and air pass through it after baking. The fiber quantity per unit area is increased, and the knitted yarns are arranged to be overlapped in the vertical direction due to the tension caused by an increase of the number of cotton yarns at tack portions. The base material 10 becomes a secondary molding through the degreasing process by an NaOH aqueous solution, the primary molding for covering on a base, immersing in a luminescence liquid made of Al, Y, Cr and Ce, and the ceramic process by backing. A binder is sprayed to it to obtain this mantle. Preferably, 8-15 stitches are used per 1 inch for weaving.
