Abstract:
1. Process for the preparation of 2-formyl-3,3-dimethyl-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid esters of the formula I see diagramm : EP0022208,P4,F1 in which R represents alkyl or optionally substituted aralkyl, characterized in that 2-cyano-3,3-dimethyl-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid esters of the formula II see diagramm : EP0022208,P4,F2 in which R has the meaning indicated above, are reacted with formic acid in the presence of catalysts which are used for catalytic hydrogenation, at temperature between 0 and 1508C.
