Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance the abrading force, abrading efficiency and finishing characteristic by increasing the respective filling proportions of abrasive power and binder in an abrasive layer through application of a coating material containing an abrasive powder and a binder on a tape base material, and then desiccating it to form an abrasive layer, and thereafter through denisification of the abrasive layer by a calender.
CONSTITUTION: A tape base material is coated with a coating material containing an abrasive powder and a binder and then is dried, by which an abrasive layer is formed. Then, the abrasive layer is subjected, by a calender, to highly densifying treatment. Resultantly, the pores having therefore been produced inside the abrasive layer due to evaportation of organic solvent are shrunk, or eliminated, as a result of compression of the abrasive layer, whereupon the abrasive layer remarkably increases in terms of the respective filling proportions of the abrasive powder and the binder and, at the same time, comes to have a high toughness by film bonding of the abrasive particles to the binder. Accordingly, when abrasion is carried out, the abrasive layer becomes difficut to deform. Also, fall of the abrasive particles is difficult to occur. Therefore, the abrasive tape has very excellent durability.
