Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of acicular ultrafine particles of iron oxyhydroxide by coating metallic phosphate on the surfaces of the particles in a range of 0.05/100W5/100 of a ratio of P to Fe.

CONSTITUTION: Aqueous solution of ferrous salt or a mixture of ferrous salt and ferric salt is neutralized with aqueous alkaline solution to produce insoluble matter and is oxidized with air. Then, ultrafine acicular iron oxyhydroxide is produced. Metallic phosphate may be coated on the surface of the particles at the time of completing the neutralization of iron salt aqueous solution and alkaline agent, completion of the oxidation, or temporarily baking paste obtained after washing and filtering, dry paste or dry material.
