PURPOSE: To obtain the cylinder material having extremely good surface smoothness in the finishing state by executing the prescribed pretreatment prior to an ironing between drawing and ironing.
CONSTITUTION: An Al (alloy) rolling plate 1 is formed in a cylindrical forming body 3 by drawing after punching in the blank stock 2 to be worked. A buffed forming body 12 is then made by buffing with a tripoli, etc., as the abrasive by using a buff 10 and a degreasing treatment is made thereon. A caustic cleaning treatment is then made, a neutralization is performed by a nitric acid solution, etc., after washing and a drying is made by hot washing after washing further. The Al cylinder is obtd. by executing an ironing on the forming body 12 completing said pretreatment. In this way, the cylinder material having extremely excellent surface smoothness is obtd. in the product after ironing. Consequently, it is suitable for the sensitive drum base body of a copying machine.
