To provide a method for manufacturing a bar-like and hollow pipe-like product having various cross sectional shapes with a molten metal of amorphous alloy material continuously at high energy efficiency and low cost.
In a first step cooling zone, a molten metal of alloy material which can develop an amorphous alloy is made to pass between a set of opposing quench rolls 20 having a semi-circular concave part 22 on peripheral faces thereof for restraining a cross sectional shape of a passing molten metal so that a given bar-like or tube-like cross sectional shape is given by cooling at a temperature higher than a glass transition temperature (Tg), and lower than a crystallization temperature (Tx) of the alloy material. Successively, in a second step mold process cooling zone, the molten metal is made to pass between a set of opposing secondary mold rolls 30 having a semi-circular concave part 31 on peripheral faces thereof for restraining a cross sectional shape of a passing primary mold member 2 for molding the metal in a bar-like or a tube-like given cross sectional shape. By inserting a mandrel 40 in a circular space formed with a semi-circular concave part on the pair of quenching roll peripherals, and by flowing the molten metal around the mandrel, the metal can be molded into a tube shape.
