Title:
MANUFACTURE OF ANISOTROPIC RARE-EARTH MAGNET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06224061
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture efficiently an anisotropic rare-earth magnet having high magnetic characteristics at a high yield by a method wherein a magnet powder body of a specified composition is heated, extruded and molded in an inert atmosphere and after the crystal structure of the powder body is deformed in such a way that the powder body has a magnetic anisotropy in the plane direction roughly vertical to the extrusion direction, the powder body is cooled.

CONSTITUTION: A magnet powder body of a composition, which contains 10 to 30 atomic % of R (The R is one kind ≤ of an element of rare-earth elements comprising yttrium.), 2 to 28 atomic % of boron and 65 to 82 atomic % of M (the M is one kind ≤of an element of iron, cobalt and nickel.), is used as a raw material. This magnet powder body is heated and pressed at a temperature of 700 to 950°C in an inert atomsphere and is continuously extruded and molded through a narrowed nozzle part 10. After the crystal structure of the powder body is deformed in such a way that the powder body has a magnetic anisotropy in the plane direction roughly vertical to the extrusion direction, the powder body is cooled and is taken out. Thereby, an oxidative deterioration of the material is hardly generated and an anisotropic rare-earth magnet can be efficiently manufactured in a short time.
