Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacture of a B-containing stainless steel and a B-containing stainless steel product, having high neutron absorption capacity and excellent hot workability and suitably for a neutron shielding material related to unclear power use.
SOLUTION: The B-containing stainless steel has a composition which consists of ≤0.05% C, 0.1-1.0% Si, 0.2-2.0% Mn, ≤0.05% P, ≤0.02% S, ≤0.5% Cu, 7-15% Ni, 18-25% Cr, 0.01-1.5% Mo, 0.005-0.2% Al, 0.9-2.5% B, ≤0.03% (Sn+Pb), ≤0.04% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and in which the value of Ni+0.5Mn+3B+30(C+N)+11.6-1.36(Cr+1.5Si+Mo) is regulated to -10 to 4. The B-containing stainless steel product can be produced by subjecting a steel having the above chemical composition to heating up to 1,100-1,210°C, to slabbing at ≥4 forming ratio or hot forging, and then to got rolling.
