Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equip a battery with an improved strong-load discharge characteristic by using manganese oxides in such an arrangement that the surface of electrolytic manganese dioxide is enclosed with a compound containing nickel and/or cobalt, and thereby synthesizing a manganese oxide for battery whose discharge potential is heightened.
SOLUTION: A manganese dioxide synthesized electrolytically from a solution of manganese sulfate is separated from an electrode, rinsed with water, and crushed, cast in a solution containing nickel and/or cobalt, and agitated, and thereby the surface of the electrolytic manganese dioxide is enclosed with a compound containing nickel and/or cobalt. This heightens the potential of the manganese oxides and establishes a battery of high performance.
