PURPOSE: To manufacture the title briquette having high strength and by which good ventilation can be ensured. in a blast furnace for refining of zinc by forming a briquette of crude zinc oxide at a specific temp., rapidly cooling the briquette to a specific temp. by a cold blast and thereafter naturally cooling it to an ordinary temp.

CONSTITUTION: A briquette of crude zinc oxide formed at 500 to 700°C is rapidly cooled to the surface temp. of 150 to 350°C in the proportion of ≥50°C per min by a cold blast. The briquette is then naturally cooled to an ordinary temp. In this way, the briquette of crude zinc oxide having high strength and hard to break during carried and stored can be obtd. Furthermore, a air permeability in a blast furnace for refining of zinc is kept in good conditions by the briquette, so that stable operation can be ensured.
