PURPOSE: To provide a cable and a cable manufacturing method by which heat resistance is obtained and the cable having excellent electric performance such as a low dielectric constant can be manufactured easily at low cost by inexpensive equipment.

CONSTITUTION: A cable manufacturing method is composed of a foaming insulation covering work process to work a foaming insulation covering 4 on the outer periphery of a conductor 2 while foaming silane crosslinked polyethylene in which a chemical foaming agent is mixed, a winding process to wind a foaming insulation covering cable 6 round a reel 9 after cooling is performed like passing through into a water tank 8 after this foaming insulation covering work process and a crosslinking process to crosslink the foaming insulationg covering by sprinkling steam for several hours to several ten hours after the foaming insulation covering cable 6 wound round the reel in this winding process is housed in a steam chamber 11.
