Title:
MANUFACTURE OF CAM SHAFT FOR CAR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62140722
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the manufacturing cost by pouring molten metal of a low melting point alloy into a cavity consisting of a spline-shaped recessed part in the cam profile part and a sprue runner of pipe material, and thereby providing possibility of binding the cam profile with the pipe material.

CONSTITUTION: A solid member nor nose part 6 is made from a material similar to that to one of the cam profile halves 1R and welded to a specified position on a pipe 7 of shafting. The cam profile halves 1R, 1L are fitted on the pipe 7 by temp. differential pressure fitting with said nose part solid member 6 used as backing plate, and the interior 3 and exterior 12 surfaces of the fit part are put in close contact with each other. After the cam profile 13 is supported by a mold locating device 14, molten metal of Al alloy 15 is poured from the pouring gate 9, and now the molten metal 15 is fed through sprue runner 10, 11 to fill a spline-shaped recessed part 2, to ensure that the cam profile 13 is consolidated with the pipe 7 as in a single piece.
