PURPOSE: To effectively remove carbonaceous grits formed in furnace by providing a crusher at the inside lower part of a carbon black manufacturing surface and then supplying an inert gas into a conduit provided below the crusher.
CONSTITUTION: A puddling type crusher 3 and a grate 4 are provided at the inside lower part of a carbon black manufacturing furnace 1, and also an inert gas conduit 5 with a large number of supply ports 6 is provided below the grate 4. In such an apparatus, grits formed in the furnace 1 fall down to the lower part of the furnace, are crushed by the puddling type crusher 3, passed through the grate 4, and then discharged from grits discharge port 7, while carbon black is completely discharged from a carbon black discharge port 2 by inert gas introduced through the conduit 5 and a high-temperature gas formed in the furnace 1 before it reaches the crusher 3.
