Abstract:
PURPOSE: To manufacture a cylinder head composed of an Al alloy casting-made cylinder head body and a ceramic liner inserted in this without crushing the ceramic liner.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of manufacturing the cylinder head 1 composed of the cylinder head body 8 and the ceramic liner 9 inserted in this, the ceramic liner 9 is arranged in a mold and casting is executed. Successively, in the cooling process of the cylinder head body 8 after the molten metal solidifies, when the relation between the compressive residual stress σ1 at the inserted part 8a in this cylinder head body 8 and the compressive residual stress σ2 at the ceramic liner 9 is σ1<σ2, the cooling process is stopped and immediately, the cylinder head body 8 is heated to the temp. at higher than the temp. at the time of stopping the cooling process, and the solid solution treatment containing a process isothermally holding to this heating temp., is executed. By this method, the compressive residual stress σ1 at the inserted part 8a is reduced and the relation σ1<σ2 even at the room temp. can be held.
