PURPOSE: To make it possible to produce complicated projected-and-recessed pattern on the surface of a ceramic formed body by a method wherein raw powder is turned into a green formed body by pressing down a punch under the condition, in which a synthetic resin plate having projected-and-recessed pattern on its underside is seated on the top surface of a preformed body, with the pressure which is larger than the pressure applied during preforming.
CONSTITUTION: Raw ceramic powder, which contains powder of substance having lamellar structure, is preformed with a mechanical press having molds, for which an upper punch is used. As the substance having lamellar structure, boron nitride, graphite, talc, pyrophyllite and the like are used. When the pressure, which is larger than the pressure applied during preforming, is applied through a synthetic resin plate, on the underside of which projected-and-recessed pattern is provided and which is seated on the top surface of a preformed body, on the preformed body, the raw powder easily enters the recessed pattern of the synthetic resin plate as the result of synergistic effect of the orientation effect of the raw powder by sliding and the slipperiness of the synthetic resin plate to the raw powder. Accordingly, the removal of a green formed body from the synthetic resin plate is also easy and no broken part develops on the obtained projected-and-recessed pattern.
