Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a manufacture capable of integrally molding a ceramic honeycomb structure with uniform density without causing cracks or distortions during the period of manufacture and of a ceramics honeycomb structure capable of obtaining high dimensional accuracy by cutting, grinding work or the like as required.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of core material retaining materials 2a, 2b for retaining core materials are disposed in both inside end parts of a rubber mold 1 and, by the core material retaining material 2a, 2b, both ends of a plurality of core materials 4 are retained which form the cavity parts of a ceramic honeycomb structure. Then, powder ceramics 7 are filled into the space defined between the core material 4 and the rubber mold 1, and the rubber mold 1 filled with the powder ceramics 7 is put within a pressure vessel 8 filled with compression fluid, and the powder ceramics 7 within the rubber mold 1 are subjected to compression molding by isostatic molding.
