PURPOSE: To adjust molds and contrive to improve the time efficiency of a press by a method wherein densities at a plurality of positions of a ceramic substrate is calculated from the measured values of penetrating X-radiation so as to forecast the deformation after firing.
CONSTITUTION: Press materials having various thicknesses and densities are made of raw powder material to be used for the substrate concerned so as to obtain calibration marks by obtaining X-ray intensities with a penetrating X-ray apparatus. Next, a lead base substrate for CERDIP is manufactured out of raw alumina powder material. Raw materials are press-molded. One pressed material or green substrate is taken out of a press so as to continuously measure without contact 1W15 measuring positions, which are obtained by equally dividing the surface of the green substrate, with a penetrating X-ray apparatus in order to obtain an surface density by means of the calibration marks. Further, the green thickness is obtained with a micrometer. Thus, the deformation at firing is forecast and the adjustments of the degree of tilting of the upper punch of molds and of the fill of raw material at a core part are done exactly.
