PURPOSE: To manufacture a chucking piece for blind rivet having high durability.

CONSTITUTION: In a reduced pressure suction casting device 1 for inserting a tree-like mold 5 having plural cavities 3 for casting chucking pieces into a high frequency induction furnace 7 and incorporating this in an evacuated vessel 9, by heating an SKD 11 steel as casting raw material at 1500°C under 1 atm pressure, molten metal 11 is obtd., and by developing 1/2 atm of the pressure difference at between the evacuated vessel 9 and the high frequency induction furnace 7, the molten metal 11 is sucked and solidified into every corners in each cavity 3. Successively, the tree-like mold 7 is dismantled, and after heating the SKD11-made chucking pieces at about 1000-1050°C, air-cooling for quenching is executed, and also after heating this at about 150-200°C, air- cooling for tempering is executed. The center part of the chucking piece is formed as HRC61 hardness and 180kgf/mm2 tensile strength and the teeth parts thereof are formed in extremely sharp and the durability is improved by ten or more times of the ordinary product.
