Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method of manufacturing a coupling sleeve for a manual transmission whereby a coupling sleeve with a very small rate of distortion can be manufactured, resulting in maintenance or enhancement of a good feeling in controlling a lever during a shift.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of inner teeth 12 of equal thickness are formed by spline broaching in a blank 10a of a coupling sleeve. Next, the plurality of inner teeth 12 are subjected to uniform inversed tapering press working to form an inversed tapered portion 14 on the toothed face of each of the inner teeth 12 and then predetermined ones of the inner teeth 12 are subjected to broaching for tooth removal so as to form a tooth-removed portion 13 from which the inner teeth 12 are removed.
