Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a closed deck wet liner type cylinder block by using a die casting method.
SOLUTION: A bore insert 15 fitting a core metal 22 to an insert member 6 is set into a movable die 14. A fixed die 13 and the movable die 14 are clamped and the bore insert 15 and the insert member 6 are fixed in a cavity. Molten metal is cast to cast the cylinder block body inserting the insert member 6 as cast-in. After separating the bore insert 15 from a cast product, a cylinder liner is pressed in the insert member 6 to obtain the closed deck wet liner type cylinder block. An undercut part is eliminated by inserting the insert member 6 as cast-in and the casting with the die casting method can be obtd. Since the core metal 22 is separated from the movable die 14, the core metal 22 can easily is fitted to the insert member 6 without affecting with the thermal expansion of the die, and the cooling time of the die is shortened and the productivity can be improved.
