PURPOSE: To obtain an upper and a lower die for easy press forming which each have a plating layer of low melting point alloy electrodeposited on the surface with less labor, by plating samples with hard metal and then dipping them in a low melting point alloy bath, and cooling and solidifying molten alloy.
CONSTITUTION: On the surface of a sample panel 1, a plating layer 8' of hard metal such as Cu and Ni is formed. On the reverse surface of an upper die flask, the flange part 1a of the panel 1 is fixed and it is dipped in the bath 3 of molten low melting point alloy. When the molten alloy 3' is cooled to solidify, an upper die 14 and a lower die 15 partititoned by the panel 1 are formed. As the upper die flask 2 is elevated, the upper die 14 united to the upper die flask 2 is also elevated to separate from the panel 1. Then, the panel 1 left in the lower die 15 is detached. Thus, a die for easy press formation which has the plating layers 8' of hard metal over the entire surfaces of the upper die 14 and lower die 15 and has a smooth surface is obtained easily.
