Title:
MANUFACTURE OF DRIED AND DEFORMED BAMBOO
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0473103
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To deform a bamboo itself and providing a wide range of applications by cutting an immature section of a bamboo shoot just after the surface of the bamboo flesh turns into green to form fibers and the composition of bamboo shoot varies into the composition of bamboo into the length of a molded material, drying as it is or forming some rings or the like inside, forming vertical cuts on the surface and drying.

CONSTITUTION: When a bamboo shoot is grown, fibers are formed on the surface and the bamboo shoot turns green, and its upper section is still as soft as the bamboo shoot and a section just below becomes a soft baby bamboo while its lower section grows up a hard bamboo like a grown-up bamboo. The baby bamboo is cut into the length of a material to be formed and dried, or rings 2 are formed inside the baby bamboo or the cuts are formed on the outside and dried. Although sun-drying is available, mainly the same is dried by heat drying. The quicker the drying is, the larger the deformation is. When the rings 2 are formed inside the baby bamboo, the ring sections are not shrinked while the outside is shrinked and get smaller. Vertical cuts are formed on the outer face and a linear pattern with rough recesses and projections is formed on the surface. When green sections 3 are peeled off and dried, little shrinkage is formed on the peeled sections while the large shrinkage is formed on the outside, and a two-tone color deformed bamboo is manufactured.
