To provide a method for manufacturing an elastic foam roller on a single device and simply in a few manhours.
A slender elastic foam 1 is compressed in an axial direction to the fixed side by a compressing member 9 in a frame coinciding with the outer peripheral shape of the foam 1, and a first cylindrical blade is thrust into the foam 1 along the axial line of the compressed foam 1 so that it is perforated. Further, a shaft 10 is inserted into a shaft hole formed by pulling out the first cylindrical blade in such a state that the foam 1 is compressed, and the outer periphery of the elastic foam 1 compressed is cut into a cylindrical shape with the help of a second cylindrical blade 11 which slides to fit the outer periphery of the compressing member 9. Next, the second cylindrical blade 11 and the compressing member 9 are removed from the elastic foam 1 and the shaft 10 and the elastic foam 1 is restored to its pre-compression length along the shaft 10.
