Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing an EL element having high luminance stability and excellent durability characteristic.

CONSTITUTION: An EL element is formed by successively laminating and forming a first electrode 2, a first insulating layer 3, a light emitting layer 4, a second insulating layer 5, and a second electrode 6 on a glass base 1 which is an insulating base. In the light emitting layer having zinc sulfide (ZnS) as a base material, even when S element having high vapor pressure is evaporated by a high temperature thermal treatment to increase Zn element in the unbounded state, a gas including a sulfidizing gas such as H2S is introduced into this atmosphere, whereby the S element can be supplied to be bonded with the unbounded Zn element. The damage in the film of the light emitting layer is recovered by the high temperature thermal treatment, and crystallinity is also improved. Since generation of an unstable local level accompanying the lack of S element can be suppressed, consequently, the resisting deterioration of an EL element is minimized, and emission luminance can be improved by the crystallinity improvement.
