To join a current collecting lead at sufficient strength and provide a high density electrode plate with no wrinkles and no cracks by covering a region for joining the current collecting lead on a current collecting core material before mix coating.
Preferably, the manufacturing method of an electrode plate contains a process in which a covering material covered in a region for joining a current collecting lead on a current collecting core material is removed after mix coating, then the current collecting lead is joined, and a tape is used as the covering material. A mix containing an active material and a binder is applied to foil made of at least one selected from the group comprising Al, Ti, Cu, Ni, and stainless steal, and before mix coating, a region for joining the current collecting lead on the current collecting core material is covered to manufacture the electrode plate, and the electrode plate using a lithium-containing transition metal oxide as the active material, an Al foil as the current collecting core material is used in a positive electrode, and an electrode plate using carbon as the active material and a Cu foil as the current collecting core material is used in a negative electrode to constitute a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
