Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the projection height of abrasive grains exposed from main plating layers so as to extend the life of a grinding wheel by making the thickness of each main plating layer as small as possible, and allowing the abrasive grains to maintain a strong holding force.

CONSTITUTION: Abrasive grains 2 temporarily attached to a die body are covered with an electrically conductive coating 12 with some of them left exposed and the die body is adjusted to a grinding wheel core 1 with the conductive coating 12 in contact with the surface of the grinding wheel core 1, and main plating layers 4a, 4 are formed over the conductive coating 12 and over the surface of the grinding wheel core 1 and the abrasive grains 2 are electrodeposited on the surface of the grinding wheel core 1 and then the die body is released from the grinding wheel core 1.
