Title:
MANUFACTURE OF ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MEMBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3166270
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To omit wiping of an electrophotographic sensitive member, i.e., photoreceptor, and prepare a non-coated surface on the peripheral surface at each end of a cylindrical support by furnishing an electroconductive coating- shielding member at the ends of the cylindrical support contactlessly in such a way as covering the peripheral surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: A grounded electroconductive coating-shielding member 16 is provided at each end of a cylindrical support 2 in such a way as covering the peripheral surface of the end, and an electrostatic spray coating is applied. If therein the gap between the shield member 16 and the peripheral surface of the support end is below 2mm, no line of electric force is generated in this gap at the time of application of coatings, nor liquid drops containing coating for forming electrophotographic sensitive substance do intrude into the gap, which permits preparing a photoreceptor free of turbulence at the boundary between the coated area on the support 2 and the uncoated area at its end. A thickness of shield member 16 exceeding 3mm is not preferable because the liquid drops containing the coating to be attached to near the end of the area to be coated attach to the shield member 16 to cause widening of the scope where the film thickness is small.
