To thin a faceplate while securing its strength by providing a projecting part on either one of an upper die and a lower die for forming and a recess part corresponding to the projecting part on the other side and by manufacturing the faceplate with the recess part formed on the surface through pressurization by interposing a face material between them.

A flat face material 21 made of a rolled stock is interposed between an upper die 27 and a lower die 29 for forming a faceplate. A plural of projecting parts 31 for forming a score line groove are formed on the side of a back 27a of the upper die 27, while a plurality of recess parts 33 for forming a reinforcing rib corresponding to each of the projecting parts 31 on a cavity bottom 29a of the lower die 29 on which the face material 21 is placed. The cavity bottom 29a is formed flat other than the recess parts 33 so as to prevent looseness of the placed face material 21. The face material 21 is placed on the cavity bottom 29a of the lower die 29 and it is pressurized by the upper die 27 so as to manufacture the face plate 21 with a score line groove 23 formed on a surface 21a.
